Setting an Intention Can Transform Your Podcasting Journey

Maybe you've been thinking about starting a podcast, launching an online business, creating a digital product, or pursuing a dream that won't leave you alone.

The truth is, the biggest shift doesn't happen when you finally launch. It happens the moment you make the decision.

Your intention changes everything.

When you decide what you want and commit to pursuing it, you begin opening yourself up to opportunities, people, and possibilities that may have been there all along—but you weren't looking for them.

And this has happened to me.

The Power of Setting an Intention

Every accomplishment starts with a decision.

Before there is a podcast, a business, a book, or a speaking career, there is an intention.

When you intentionally decide what you want, your focus changes. Your mind begins looking for ways to help you achieve that goal. Opportunities that once seemed invisible suddenly appear.

You start noticing:

  • Resources that can help you

  • Coaches and mentors who specialize in your area of interest

  • Networking opportunities

  • People who can support your journey

  • Ideas and solutions you may have previously overlooked

Setting an intention isn't magic—it's alignment.

It's telling yourself, "This is what I want, and I'm willing to pursue it." So the opportunities come to help you achieve those goals.

Why Most People Stay Stuck

Many people spend years thinking about their dreams without ever taking the first step.

They say:

  • "I'll start when I have more time."

  • "I'll start when I have more money."

  • "I'll start when I feel ready."

The problem?

There is rarely a perfect time. Actually, there is never the perfect time! The time is now! When you decide.

The longer you wait, the easier it becomes to stay where you are.

The people who eventually achieve their goals aren't necessarily more talented or more prepared. They simply made a decision and took action. Kept going and didn’t quit. It’s that simple.

My Podcast Journey Started With a Single Decision

I know this because I lived it.

I first felt the nudge to start my podcast in 2019.

The idea wouldn't leave me alone.

Yet despite feeling called to launch, I didn't actually start until 2022.

For three years, the dream stayed in the background.

Then one day, I decided to stop ignoring it. While on maternity leave, I might add!

I set the intention to start my podcast.

That single decision changed the trajectory of my life. (I would make the decision again and again!)

The Opportunities I Never Saw Coming

When I launched The American Dream in the Eyes of Immigrants, I had one goal:

To share immigrant stories.

That's it.

I wasn't thinking about speaking engagements, workshops, media features, or building a podcast coaching business.

Those opportunities weren't part of the original plan.

But they came anyway.

Since starting my podcast, I've had opportunities to:

  • Speak at events and conferences

  • Lead workshops

  • Be featured in articles and publications

  • Appear as a guest on other podcasts

  • Build meaningful relationships (other podcasters and creatives are the most supportive)

  • Help other entrepreneurs launch their own podcasts

None of these opportunities would have happened if I had continued waiting.

They became possible because I finally made the decision to start.

How Intention Creates Momentum

Once you commit to a goal, your actions begin supporting it.

Let's say you decide you want to start a podcast.

You write down your goal.

You begin researching.

You join communities.

You attend networking events.

You follow podcasting experts.

You start asking questions.

And before you know it, you're meeting the exact people who can help you move forward. (Me - it’s me. Hi!)

The same principle applies to:

  • Starting a business

  • Writing a book

  • Becoming a speaker

  • Creating digital products

  • Growing your personal brand

The opportunities don't always appear immediately, but they become much easier to recognize once you've decided where you're headed.

If You've Been Waiting to Start a Podcast, Read This

If you've been thinking about starting a podcast for months—or even years—consider this your sign.

You don't need to have every detail figured out.

You don't need the perfect microphone.

You don't need a complete marketing strategy.

You don't need to know exactly where the podcast will take you.

You simply need to make a decision.

Set the intention.

Write down your goals.

Take the first step.

The rest becomes easier once you're moving.

What Happens When You Stop Waiting

When you stop waiting and start acting, you create momentum.

Momentum leads to confidence.

Confidence leads to growth.

Growth creates opportunities.

And opportunities create outcomes you never could have predicted when you first started.

The life-changing opportunities you're hoping for may be waiting on the other side of a decision you've been postponing.

This is exactly what happened to me! And now, people reach out to me with podcasting questions, or they refer clients to me - all because I decided!

Final Thoughts

Your intention changes everything.

The opportunities you're seeking may not arrive until you decide what you truly want and commit to pursuing it.

Whether your dream is launching a podcast, growing a business, becoming a speaker, or sharing your story with the world, the first step is the same:

Make the decision.

Set the intention.

Then stay open to the possibilities that follow.

You never know where that one decision might lead.
